Experience That Makes a Difference

I’m Emma Thistlethwayte, a qualified and registered SPELD specialist teacher with over 15 years of experience. I’ve worked with hundreds of children with dyslexia, ADHD, and learning differences, helping them gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

I have worked in both school and specialist settings, and for the past seven years I have run ClarityWorks Specialist Intervention, supporting families in the Sunshine Coast and across Australia.

Helping children learn with confidence

At ClarityWorks, I work with families who are worried about their child’s reading, spelling, maths or learning progress — especially when things don’t seem to be improving despite everyone’s best efforts.

My approach is calm, practical, and evidence-based, with a strong focus on building confidence alongside skills.

A Specialist Approach to Literacy & Numeracy

I am trained in structured, evidence-based literacy approaches that are proven to support children with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, ADHD and autism.

This means I don’t rely on guessing, memorisation, or “one-size-fits-all” programs. Instead, I use explicit, step-by-step teaching that helps children truly understand how reading and spelling work.

Parents often tell me they finally feel relief when things are explained clearly and make sense.
