COPS Self-Editing Scaffold
COPS is an acronym for:
- Capitalisation
- Organisation
- Punctuation
- Spelling
(Australian and British English spelling).
The COPS editing strategy is a simple and effective method to improve sentence writing and self-editing skills. This is a visual scaffold that students can use to systematically check their work before submitting. Over time, students will usually find that they are able to self-edit their work, using the skills and knowledge they have gained from this tool without having to rely on this scaffold for support.
